Supports the academic mission of the college by providing all students with quality physical and mental health care.
The members of SMART are students who are specially trained to provide peer advocacy to those who have experienced an unwanted sexual experience (sexual assault, dating violence, stalking, sexual harassment, intimate partner violence, cyberstalking, etc.). They provide a confidential hotline that is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week during the academic school year. Students can call this hotline who may want peer support related to sexual violence, or have interest in seeking resources on or off campus.
SMARTies receive training in crisis intervention, peer counseling, victim/survivor advocacy, diversity training, campus response procedures, and will familiarize themselves with campus and community referral resources. The training will also serve as an educational tool regarding issues surrounding sexual violence and its impact. No prior experience or knowledge is necessary.
All interested students must be willing to dedicate their time to having the phone for 24 hours shifts, as well as coordinating with other SMART members to ensure that the phone coverage works with their schedule. SMART members are required to attend two monthly meetings for supervision, assist in campus-wide awareness events and educational outreach, and participate in on-going training
Please submit a completed application no later than Friday, April 13th.

The PHEs and Sexual Misconduct Advocacy and Resource Team (aka
SMART/SMARTies) both support the Wellness Center, and each other's events

Educator or a SMARTie, please take time to consider the differences of each
group and determine which one speaks to your personal interest.
Please apply to only ONE group. The PHEs and SMARTies train and hold
weekly meetings at the same time, so it is not possible to be part of both
