Frequently Asked Questions

How do I schedule an appointment?

You have several options:
1) use our online scheduler,

2) stop by during our walk-in hours, and we'll do our best to assist you, or

3) email us at apheatwole@smcm.edu for assistance or additional availability.

E-mailing or stopping by are the best options if you can't make any of the posted hours.

Writing Center

Peer Tutor Application

The Writing Center is always looking for friendly sophomores and juniors who are good writers and listeners. We hire as needed to replace graduating tutors. Once accepted, a prospective staff member takes a credit-bearing course or independent study on peer tutoring. Peer tutors provide face-to-face tutoring several hours a week on an on-call or by-appointment; some also tutor online, lead writing workshops, plan writing-related special events, and contribute in other ways to the culture of writing at St. Mary’s.

If you are interested in being a peer tutor, please return the following application to Brian O’Sullivan at the Writing Center (LIB 113).
