Frequently Asked Questions
How do I schedule an appointment?
You have several options: you can stop by during our walk-in hours, and we'll do our best to assist you; you can use our online scheduler (your login, if you've never used it before, is your school email with your last name as your password); or you can give us a call at x4493. Calling or stopping by is the best option if you can't make any of the posted hours.
What is the meaning of life?
We don't know either. But keep looking. Let us know if you figure it out; we may post your answer. Meanwhile, try typing "What is the meaning of life?" into Wolfram Alpha.

Tutor Profile:
Mary Clapp
Majors: Biology, English
Minors: Music, Environmental Studies
Favorite Books: The Once and Future King by TH White... epic. Also: Richard Dawkins' The Selfish Gene, Arundhati Roy's The God of Small Things, Annie Dillard's Pilgrim at Tinker Creek, Edward Abbey's Desert Solitaire... and the Harry Potter series is my literary indulgence. Don't judge me; you love it too.

The Bad News: I can't decide what I love the most so I bend over backwards trying to do it all.
The Good News: That means I can help, at least a little bit, with everything! As Biology is my other major, I specialize in science writing, so bring in those lab reports! Because another one of my interests is linguistics, I also love working with students for whom English is their second (or third or fifth) language (I wanted also to minor in Spanish, but mymom said 5 years was enough, honey).
My ideal place to talk about writing would be on a rock face somewhere exotic, by a river, near an ecology lab, and would involve eating peanut butter. But the Writing Center is a pretty good venue, too.
