The following information will detail the responsibilities of a project leader and serve as a guide as you develop your project.<\/p>\n<h3>Project Ideas<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>Organize a beach, riverbed, or park clean up<\/li>\n<li>Volunteer at a food bank, food pantry, or soup kitchen<\/li>\n<li>Weed a community garden<\/li>\n<li>Clean up, paint, or decorate a facility serving youth, seniors, or patients<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>Project Guidelines<\/h3>\n<ol>\n<li>Must be a non-profit organization<\/li>\n<li>Should be completed within six hours, ideally no more than three hours<\/li>\n<li>Cannot start before 7 a.m. or end after 9 p.m.<\/li>\n<li>The non-profit organization needs to assume liability for volunteers<\/li>\n<li>All projects are subject to approval by the Office of Alumni Relations<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<h3>Dates and Deadlines<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>January 31<\/strong>\u00a0&#8211; Complete site proposals must be submitted to the Office of Alumni Relations<\/li>\n<li><strong>February 28<\/strong> &#8211; Site leaders will be informed of their project proposal status<\/li>\n<li><strong>March 1<\/strong> &#8211; Projects will be advertised<\/li>\n<li><strong>March 1<\/strong>\u00a0&#8211; Registration will open<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>Expectations of Project Leaders<\/h3>\n<h4><em><strong>Before<\/strong><\/em><\/h4>\n<ul>\n<li>Contact the non-profit organization to discuss the project details<\/li>\n<li>Submit a project proposal to the Office of Alumni Relations using the online form<\/li>\n<li>Clarify all project details with the Office of Alumni Relations<\/li>\n<li>Respond to all communications\u00a0from the organization being served and the Office of Alumni Relations in a timely manner<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h4><em><strong>On the Day<\/strong><\/em><\/h4>\n<ul>\n<li>Greet volunteers on site &#8211; take attendance, distribute t-shirts and name tags, etc.<\/li>\n<li>Take photos (or delegate that responsibility)<\/li>\n<li>Serve as a liaison between organization and volunteers<\/li>\n<li>Ensure safety of all participants as best as possible<\/li>\n<li>Organize a post-event social (optional)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h4><em><strong>After<\/strong><\/em><\/h4>\n<ul>\n<li>Complete the post-event survey<\/li>\n<li>Submit photos and attendance information to the Office of Alumni Relations<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>We appreciate your interest in serving as a project site leader for this year&#8217;s SMCM Bay to Bay Service Days!
