Minimum of 60 Credit Hours of Coursework
The Business Administration and Management Major consists of 15 courses, totaling 60 credit hours of coursework, carrying business or economics credit and distributed as follows:
Foundational core: 12 credits consisting of
- BADM 101: Introduction to Business
- ECON 102: Principles of Microeconomics
- ECON 103: Principles of Macroeconomics
Technical core: 12 credits (three courses) consisting of
- BADM 201: Accounting I (required)
- BADM 202: Accounting II
- BADM 203: Non-profit Accounting
- ECON 253: Economic Statistics (required)
- ECON 251: Intermediate Macroeconomics
- ECON 252: Intermediate Microeconomics (strongly recommended)
Business core: 12 credits consisting of

- BADM 302: Principles of Marketing
- BADM 303: Corporation Finance (cross listed with ECON 353)
Business Theory and Application: 16 credits (four courses) chosen from:

The department highly recommends that students give focus to their electives by concentrating in one of the areas above, or working with their advisor to develop a directed plan of study. It is recommended that students pursuing International Business seriously consider studying abroad or doing an internship abroad.
Senior Experience: 8 credits consisting of
Students must choose from one of the following two options:
- BADM 401 Seminar in Business AND
BADM 498 Off-Campus Internship
OR
1. BADM 493 AND
BADM 494 St. Mary’s Project
The department recommends that students with an International Business focus consider an internship abroad.
Minimum Grade and GPA Requirements
Students must earn a minimum grade of C- in all required business and economics courses and maintain an overall GPA of 2.0 or better in these courses.
Sequence of Study
The following model is suggested as a possible basic program to satisfy requirements for the major in business:
- First Year:
BADM 101, ECON 102 and ECON 103, BADM 201, and the Core Curriculum requirement in Mathematics.
- Sophomore Year:
ECON 253, a student-elected third course in the technical core, BADM 301, and BADM 302
- Junior Year:
BADM 303 and three courses satisfying Business Theory and Application requirements
- Senior Year:
At least one course satisfying Business Theory and Application requirements and 8 credits satisfying senior experience requirements.
