To commemorate the 2026 inauguration of President Rhonda Phillips, Ph.D., FAICP, St. Mary\u2019s College of Maryland is proud to commission a limited-edition original work of art by internationally recognized contemporary artist Burton Morris.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The artwork, an original Burton Morris creation, was produced exclusively for St. Mary\u2019s College. Drawing inspiration from the campus\u2019s waterfront setting and student experience, the work blends iconic elements with symbolic imagery. Each piece is hand-numbered, part of a strictly limited edition, and accompanied by a Certificate of Authenticity. <\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div><\/div><\/div>

\"It was an honor to create this commemorative work for St. Mary\u2019s College of Maryland and to celebrate this important moment in the College\u2019s history. My inspiration came from the vibrant spirit of the campus\u2014its waterfront setting, its rich heritage, and its bold commitment as The National Public Honors College. I sought to capture both tradition and momentum\u2014blending iconic architectural elements, the energy of student life, and symbolic references to the College\u2019s milestones. The sailboats, in particular, represent movement, progress, and the journey of each student who passes through this remarkable institution. My hope is that this piece not only marks a historic inauguration, but also serves as a lasting symbol of pride, connection, and possibility for the entire St. Mary\u2019s community.\"<\/p>
