Adjunct Instructor for IDIS124: Seahawk Academic Improvement & Learning Strategies (SAILS)
The Office of Student Success Services at St. Mary's College of Maryland is accepting applications from alums in the tri-county area to serve as Adjunct Instructor for IDIS124: Seahawk Academic Improvement & Learning Strategies (SAILS). This interdisciplinary course is scheduled for the Summer Session. This course will occur virtually during summer session, Monday – Thursday, 6:30-7:30 PM, July 24 - August 11. The instructor should be well versed in teaching students study strategies such as time management, note taking, test taking, and general study skills textbook reading, talking with professors, class participation, self-advocacy, conducting research using library resources, and other related skills. The goal is to teach these strategies, skills, and techniques to help the students improve their academic performance and successfully transition into a college learning environment.
Qualifications include a Master's degree in a relevant area and teaching experience. Summer adjunct faculty are paid a minimum of $2000 to teach a two-credit course per the College syllabus; however, there is a sliding scale based upon the number of students enrolled in the course. Employment will be contingent upon successful completion of a criminal background check and proof of COVID-19 vaccination, medical and religious exemptions will be considered.
