Admission Counselor (temporary, contingent)
St. Mary’s College of Maryland at Historic St. Mary’s City is accepting résumés for the full-time, contingent position of Temporary Admission Counselor, starting approximately February 1, 2023 and continues until approximately May 31, 2023. Responsibilities include: Planning, scheduling and implementing visits to high schools and college fairs; counseling and interviewing prospective students; evaluation of applications; attendance at open houses and other recruiting events. Requires overnight travel and some weekend work. This is a temporary position that may be eligible for limited benefits.
Qualifications include, but are not limited to: Completion of a Bachelor’s degree; a valid driver’s license and eligible to drive leased automobiles; must be willing to work nights and weekends as required; ability to lift at least 25 pounds; must be willing to travel nine to twelve weeks; a commitment and understanding of issues and concerns of high school and college-age students; a working knowledge of various computer software packages (word processing, spreadsheet applications, and data base management); must have strong organizational, problem-solving and analytical skills; must possess a commitment to the development of a diverse applicant pool and student body, and an appreciation of a liberal arts education in a small, residential college. The ability to interact with diverse groups of people and a good sense of humor are highly desirable. Any combination of acceptable education and experience, which has provided the necessary knowledge and skills to fulfill the requirements of this position, may be considered. Employment will be contingent upon successful completion of a criminal background check and proof of COVID-19 vaccination, medical and religious exemptions will be considered.
