Director of Production and Events
St. Mary’s College of Maryland at Historic St. Mary’s City is accepting résumés for the position of Director of Production and Events. The Director of Production and Events oversees all music and theatre performance activities, conference and speaker series events, and all management operations for the Performing Arts Building, delivering outstanding customer service while showcasing St. Mary’s College of Maryland.
The Director coordinates the logistics of internal and external events occurring in the auditorium, recital hall, and lobby area and works collaboratively with the Music Department and the faculty and the Technical Director on all aspects related to the planning and execution of music, recital, and theatrical events and conference and meeting events in these venues. The Director is responsible for coordinating and overseeing physical arrangements; maintaining continuing liaison with appropriate campus or external representatives in order to accurately and effectively coordinate services when or where requested or required; ensuring events are in keeping with brand standards and executed in a timely, effective and high-quality manner; and supervising event operations staff, volunteers and student workers. The Director is charged with acquiring external use of the venues that generates revenue for the College. This major responsibility includes developing marketing materials and liaising with outside agencies, both public and private entities, and identifying groups for income-generating events that maximize campus facility use.
Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree, preferably in management, marketing, performing arts, music, or related field; master’s degree preferred. Minimum of 5 years’ experience with event management and/or event planning experience. Proven experience in seeking and securing clients, program development and logistics, customer service, and financial management. Strong interpersonal and organizational skills, the ability to meet deadlines, and the ability to work under pressure in a constantly changing environment. Proven experience in leading teams and in working as a collaborative team member. Ability to handle sensitive information. Some weekend and evening work required. Must possess a valid driver’s license. Ability to lift at least twenty-five (25) pounds. Any combination of acceptable education and experience, which has provided the necessary knowledge and skills to fulfill the requirements of this position, may be considered.
