Gallery and Collections Coordinator (part-time)
St. Mary’s College of Maryland is accepting résumés for the part-time position of Gallery and Collections Coordinator for the Boyden Gallery and Collection. This position is responsible for assisting with most aspects of the use and maintenance of both the Gallery and the Collection. The Coordinator provides support for gallery operations that include installation of exhibitions, supervision of student workers, and scheduling of exhibitions, events, and other programming. The Coordinator also assists with oversight of the College’s Fine Art Collection, which includes both the handling and processing of individual objects for use by the campus community a well as ongoing responsibilities related to implementing collections policies and maintaining the collection’s inventories and database. This is an on-site part-time contingent position, with a projected maximum of 20 hours per week.
Qualifications: B.A. in art, art history, anthropology, conservation/preservation, collections management or related field and experience in gallery and/or collections management are required; M.A. preferred. Ability to move collections objects and to climb ladders for installation and moving artwork. Ability to lift approximately twenty-five (25) pounds. Must possess a valid Maryland driver’s license. Any combination of acceptable education and experience, which has provided the necessary knowledge and skills to fulfill the requirements of this position, may be considered. Employment will be contingent upon successful completion of a criminal background check.
