Stage Manager Fellow (ten-month position)
St. Mary’s College of Maryland at Historic St. Mary’s City is accepting résumés for the contingent position of Stage Manager Fellow. This position is full time for ten (10) months from August 1 through May 31 and supports events that take place in the Nancy R. and Norton T. Dodge Performing Arts Center. This position serves as the primary point of backstage contact between the artists, technicians, front of house, and box office. Responsibilities include ensuring all set-up is completed prior to the start of the event; communicating with all parties involved regarding event needs; attends to the needs of the artist and technicians backstage; supervising and monitoring the loading and unloading of all equipment backstage; and managing individuals who are assigned to assist with executing events. This position will receive training and relevant guidance.
Qualifications: High school diploma or GED equivalent. Prior managerial experience preferred. Ability to handle high-stress situations with a calm demeanor. Must possess excellent communication skills and strong leadership skills. Must be able to work a flexible schedule to include late nights and weekends. Ability to lift up to approximately seventy (70) pounds. Any combination of acceptable education and experience, which has provided the necessary knowledge and skills to fulfill the requirements of this position, may be considered. Employment will be contingent upon successful completion of a criminal background check.
