Visiting Assistant Professor of English
The Department of English at St. Mary’s College of Maryland is accepting applications for a full-time, two-year position as Visiting Assistant Professor of English, to begin August 1, 2018. Candidates will teach a 3-3 load and should expect to offer a range of courses at all levels of the curriculum. Candidates should have expertise in British literature of the long 18th century; particular area of focus within this timeframe is open. We are particularly interested, however, in applicants whose research and teaching interests consider the origins of the Enlightenment and their impact on transatlantic circulations of persons, ideas, texts, and capital. Secondary expertise in postcolonial literature and/or colonial America is desirable; candidates whose research complements our geographic location would benefit from our proximity to Historic St. Mary’s City and other historic sites and museums. The successful candidate will have experience incorporating digital humanities into undergraduate coursework.

Qualifications
Candidates should hold a PhD in English at the time of appointment; excellence in undergraduate teaching, including support for undergraduate research and writing, is expected.
