Visiting Assistant Professor of Physics or Visiting Instructor of Physics
St. Mary’s College of Maryland invites applications for a one-year position as Visiting Assistant Professor or Visiting Instructor of Physics, beginning August 2023. This position is contingent on funding and subject to the approval of College administration. Teaching responsibilities include introductory and upper-level courses, possibly including introductory astronomy.
An M.S. in Physics or a related field is required; a Ph.D. with teaching experience is preferred. An interest in attracting and retaining students from underrepresented groups is desirable. The SMCM Physics Department received the 2017 Award for Improving Undergraduate Education from APS, and it was featured as a model in the report of the Joint Task Force on Undergraduate Physics Programs (J-TUPP) from APS and AAPT. The successful candidate must have the necessary documentation to legally work in the U.S. upon hire.
