The courses include multiple study tours to different countries as well as the ability to turn Copenhagen into your classroom in local labs, workshops, and other experiential learning opportunities. This program also offers a high level of support and immersion to students.<\/p>\n Copenhagen, the capital city of Denmark, is known for its colorful, sustainable, and historic charm. Students can explore this 12th century’s iconic canals, bicycle culture, and “hygge” atmosphere.<\/p>\n DIS Copenhagen courses offer the choice of selecting from fantastic core courses in MRNE, ENST, NEUR, PSYC and WGSX, and a wide variety of other electives.<\/a> All of these core course options include a local study tour in Denmark and a study tour to another country, which is all included in the cost. For example, Marine Science students might take the Polar Biology<\/a> core course, which includes a domestic study tour to the Wadden Sea in Denmark, and a study tour to Tromso, Norway, to examine the ecological processes of nutrient transfer across ecosystems, and more!<\/p>\n Once a student has chosen their core course, they must select three to four elective courses. Students are welcome to search for courses which have a lab, research, or workshop component. Note: We do require students to take an introduction to Danish language and culture course as one of these electives.<\/p>\n DIS knows that students prefer to choose their type of housing, so there are four student housing options<\/a> available: homestay, living and learning communities, studentboende,<\/em> and residential communities. Housing is guaranteed to all participants and students will be given a meal stipend if they are not placed in a homestay. Students will commute to school on the local safe transportation system and are even given transport cards for the metropolitan area – all included in the program cost.<\/p>\n How credits taken abroad will transfer back to SMCM.<\/p>\nStudy Abroad Budget<\/h4>\n
