Students benefit from a green and peaceful place to live while being only 6 miles from the heart of central London.<\/p>\n London is home to world-class theatre, art, museums and much more. Students will have access to all of this and more as well as the ability to use London as the jumping off point for many other European adventures.<\/p>\n The University of Roehampton is delighted to offer a wide variety of modules (courses) to students on the Study Abroad Programme. You can choose your modules by going to the Study Abroad Module Catalogue<\/a>. You can take modules that relate to your major, minor or general education, as long as you meet any pre- or co-requisites.<\/p>\n You will find courses offered at the 100, 200, and 300 levels. The 200- and 300-level courses at Roehampton are often equivalent to junior- and senior-year courses in the U.S. They will likely have prerequisites. Each course equivalency request will be closely evaluated by the appropriate department to determine if they will come back as upper or lower division credits.<\/p>\n Please note: Roehampton is changing their credit model for Fall 2026 and beyond. It is recommended that students now select two 30 UK credit courses + one 20 UK credit course (which are usually only found in the London Studies track). This 20 credit London Studies option enables students to take more than just two classes while abroad.\u00a0 20 UK credits are considered to be equivalent to 5 US credits\/10 ECTS and 30 UK credit courses would usually equate to 7.5 US. Please consult with the OIE for details.<\/p>\n The University of Roehampton offers a wide range of module options and is founded on the liberal arts tradition. A few academic areas of interest include: Business, Computer Science, Creative and Performing Arts, Biological Sciences, Communication and Media Studies, and their special London Studies program, specifically designed for study abroad students.<\/p>\n Class structure may be very different from what SMCM students are used to. Depending on the class, you may find that there are very few assessments throughout the semester, meaning that 60-80% of your grade could be entirely dependent on your final exam. Excellent time management is required to be successful in your courses at Roehampton.<\/p>\n Please note that Roehampton’s grading scale and credits differ from SMCM’s. Please use the following chart to understand grading at Roehampton and how it will transfer back.
