National Hunger and Homelessness Awareness Week is celebrated each year, one week before Thanksgiving.\u00a0 With the upcoming holiday season and harsh winters, it can be a particularly difficult time for many, especially those who are struggling with hunger and shelter. Throughout the week, people all across the nation make donations and volunteer for programs to help those in need.<\/p>\n
Here at SMCM, we are hosting a variety of events and programming aimed at educating and addressing the issues of hunger and homelessness, especially as it relates to our campus and our local community.\u00a0 From a food drive to 5K, there is sure to be an event for everyone.<\/p>\n

\nOur partners at CBRC (Chesapeake Bay Running Club) are hosting a 5K at St. Mary’s City and will be collecting food donations for our campus food pantry again this year.\u00a0 This event is super fun and all entry fee proceeds support St. Mary’s County Special Olympics and food donations for our campus and local food banks.
