St. Mary\u2019s is a rigorous Honors College and close-knit community in a beautiful rural and riverside location, about two hours\u2019 drive by car from Washington DC. Speak to your exchange coordinator at your home institution to verify that this is an approved option for you.<\/p>\n<p>Ready to apply? Create an account in our <a href=\"http:\/\/smcm.via-trm.com\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">exchange student application portal<\/a> to get started. Complete SMCM\u2019s Inbound Exchange Student Application. You will be asked to electronically request the approval of your home institution\u2019s outbound exchange coordinator, as well as two academic recommendations. Applications will not be considered until all three of these recommendations have been received.<\/p>\n<p>You will need to complete and submit the following forms\/materials within the application:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>J-1 Visitors form<\/li>\n<li>Proof of Financial Support (in English) \u2013 This can be a bank statement or a letter for your institution if your institution is supporting your time abroad.<\/li>\n<li>A copy of your transcript in English<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>SMCM\u2019s Office of International Education will send acceptance letters to those exchange students accepted for study at St. Mary\u2019s only after receiving all of the required documentation.<\/p>\n<h3>Application due dates are<\/h3>\n<p>October 22 for spring semester exchange<\/p>\n<p>March 22 for academic year or fall semester exchange<\/p>\n<h3>Documentation required after acceptance<\/h3>\n<p>New Student Housing Form in your student portal<br \/>\nCopy of Immunization Record (in English): Completed on the Wellness Center Portal after you\u2019ve received your SMCM portal credentials<br \/>\nResults of a TB (Tuberculosis) Test (administered by a doctor or hospital): Completed on the Wellness Center Portal after you\u2019ve received your SMCM portal credentials<br \/>\nDrug Free Acknowledgement on SMCM Student Portal<br \/>\n<a href=\"https:\/\/www.smcm.edu\/residencelife\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/45\/2014\/07\/drug-free-campus-policy.pdf\">Read Campus Drug-free Policy<\/a><br \/>\nHealth History Form: Completed on the Wellness Center Portal after you\u2019ve received your SMCM portal credentials<\/p>\n<h3>Pre-departure Preparation<\/h3>\n<p>SMCM will enter each student into the U.S.\u2019s SEVIS system in order to issue each student a SEVIS I-20 (degree-seeking students) or a DS-2019 (exchange students), <strong>only after all of the above information has been received<\/strong>. Each student will take this SEVIS I-20 or DS-2019 to a U.S. embassy or consulate in his\/her home country to obtain the required entry visa.<\/p>\n<p>These online resources will be helpful in preparing for your visa application:<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.usembassy.gov\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">U.S. Embassy or Consulate<\/a>\u00a0closest to you<br \/>\n<a href=\"http:\/\/travel.state.gov\/content\/visas\/en.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">U.S. Department of State<\/a><\/p>\n<h3>Post-Approval Payment:<\/h3>\n<p>St. Mary\u2019s College of Maryland has partnered with Pay My Tuition to accept international payments for enrolled degree-seeking or enrolled exchange program students.
