Blackboard can be used to distribute materials, create\/share assignments and tests, keep track of grades and share them with students, and extend the course and learning to outside the classroom space.<\/p>\n<p>Your Blackboard account is not created until you are registered by the registrar for your first class as an instructor. These drives, and the documents stored in them, reside on the College\u2019s file servers\u00a0 and are easily accessed from your college-owned computer when you are connected to the SMCM network in your office.<\/p>\n<p>What happens when you need to print, update, or distribute a document to others from home or elsewhere off-campus?<\/p>\n<p>In order to access your files on a network drive, you will need to do two things: (i) access the College\u2019s<a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Vpn\">Virtual Private Network (VPN)<\/a>;\u00a0 and (ii) manually map your drive.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Connecting to the College\u2019s Virtual Private Network (VPN)<br \/>\n<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The VPN allows college faculty and staff to securely connect to the SMCM network without being physically plugged in via ethernet cable. This will allow you to directly connect to your network drive in the second step without the need for an internet browser or FTP program. Follow the instructions per your operating system found in our <a title=\"Setting up a Virtual Private Network (VPN)\" href=\"https:\/\/docs.google.com\/document\/d\/1k9I3OLGXyc5C7zRZc8rEwQlWZHtxJFRVsrRXU2N2ozo\/\">Setting up a Virtual Private Network (VPN)<\/a>. Once you have successfully connected to the SMCM network, you can map your drive.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Manually Mapping your Drive<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>After connecting via VPN to the SMCM network, you should be able to find and connect to the desired network drives that you can normally access on campus.\u00a0 You will be prompted for your username and password.\u00a0 You must first change your domain by entering <em><strong>smcm.edu\\YourUserName<\/strong><\/em><strong>\u00a0<\/strong>in the username field, and for your password please enter your network password.<\/p>\n<p>Just like if you were on campus, you need to have permissions to access folders before you can view them. Follow the instructions per your operating system found in our <a title=\"Mapping a Network Drive to your Computer\" Password Manager?<\/h5>\n<div>\n<p>St. Mary\u2019s College users can manage and synchronize their network passwords using Password Manager (<a href=\"https:\/\/password.smcm.edu\/\" rel=\"nofollow\">https:\/\/password.smcm.edu<\/a>).<\/p>\n<p>Your network credentials give you access to a number of St. Mary\u2019s College systems.\u00a0 Your username and password provide you with access to:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Your SMCM Google Apps (including Gmail)<\/li>\n<li>Portal<\/li>\n<li>Blackboard<\/li>\n<li>On campus computers<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The following Knowledge Base pages will help allows connection to the internet while on campus. \u00a0This can be done one of three ways:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li><a title=\"Connecting to the Campus Network\" href=\"https:\/\/docs.google.com\/document\/d\/1zMONgE8Ypp02d9_WDCWIMfUsHt6e0Mp4SRdCNjLi78U\/\">Campus Network<\/a> which is available to anyone who has a <a title=\"Network Account\" href=\"https:\/\/docs.google.com\/document\/d\/14YxD2T7W4Yz9nEJ5SXVsesiWZ0Fxj7QfICMsBU8Fhcw\/\">Network Account<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li><a title=\"Connecting to MobileNet\" href=\"https:\/\/docs.google.com\/document\/d\/1qFqiQattddy8i9GwIAx3zSSIhQXoEMypd4ckOR1KbMg\/\">MobileNet<\/a> which is the open wireless network located in the academic buildings.<\/li>\n<li><a title=\"Connecting to ResNet\" href=\"https:\/\/docs.google.com\/document\/d\/1XLl1zQauE1WPrOJj3CWipz63pf69ZiJUNdaMtmBGv4w\/\">ResNet<\/a> which is the network available in campus housing.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>Accessing the St. Mary\u2019s computer network is a privilege. \u00a0We ask that you comply with certain guidelines while using the network to help keep it safe. \u00a0To maintain network access, we ask that you do the following:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Keep your computer up to date with the latest operating system security patches and critical updates. \u00a0You can find
