When you are accepted as a student at St. Mary’s, you’ll be assigned an advisor who will help guide you through your plan of study. You may change advisors whenever you like – and if you are interested in a music degree, we encourage you to speak with or write to one of the music department full-time faculty as soon as possible, no matter who your advisor is. As we get to know you, we’ll help you shape your plan of study in a way can best help you achieve your goals.
What you should know, coming in, is that we strongly recommend that your first semester at St. Mary’s include Music Theory I, Sightsinging and Eartraining I, private lessons, and participation in an ensemble.
If you have any questions about this, please let us know. You can contact the Department Chair, Deborah Lawrence (dalawrence@smcm.edu) , who will be happy to help you.
