St. Mary’s student Mayumy Rivera (‘16) has been awarded a Critical Language Scholarship to study Chinese this summer in China. The Critical Language Scholarship is a fully funded summer program overseas language and cultural program, sponsored by the U.S Department of State’s Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs.

Out of a nationwide pool of applicants, Joey Haavik ’17 and Benjamin Allen ’17 recently became two of twelve students accepted into a competitive five-week Linguistics Field School that focuses on the preservation of endangered languages.
