St. Mary’s College Professor of Physics Charles Adler is the recipient of the 2015 Science Communication Award for best science writing in books from the American Institute of Physics (AIP).
The unique collaboration between St. Mary’s College of Maryland Department of Physics and the Naval Air Warfare Center Aircraft Division (NAWCAD) is expanding to two additional academic departments, chemistry and mathematics, at the public honors college. Arvind Srinivasan ’17 was recently awarded the highly competitive Science, Mathematics, and Research for Transformation (SMART) Scholarship from the Department of Defense (DoD). The physics department, led by Chair Joshua Grossman, was recently awarded a vacuum pump by the Advanced Physics Laboratory Association (ALPhA) and the company Kimball Physics. The pump, worth about $1,000, will enable physics classes to perform advanced physics lab experiments and demonstrations for other courses.
