The Office of Student Financial Assistance strives to work closely with families to help them find resources through a range of federal, state, campus-based, and private programs. Evidence of this commitment can be seen in our low student indebtedness and loan default rates. Both of these figures are well below national averages and attest to the strong outcomes of our students.<\/p>\n<p><em>If you are applying for the 2025-2026 year, the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.smcm.edu\/financialaid\/how-to-apply\/\">How To Apply<\/a> section will guide you through the process.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Please contact the Office of Student Financial Assistance with any questions you have about the financial assistance process. We are committed to helping you access all the financial assistance resources for which you qualify in order to allow you to enroll and successfully graduate from St. Mary\u2019s College of Maryland.<\/p>\n<p>*Please note that any St. Mary&#8217;s College funding is renewable up to four years or eight semesters.<\/p>\n<div class=\"accordion\">\n<h3>What is Financial Assistance?<\/h3>\n<div>\n<p>Financial assistance consists of scholarships, grants, and loans provided to students and families to help pay for post-secondary educational expenses. St. Mary\u2019s College of Maryland offers support to students through both need-based and merit-based programs. 95% of the first-year students who entered the class of 2023 received a grant and\/or scholarship from St. Mary\u2019s College. Transfer students may also be eligible for both types of institutional support.<\/p>\n<h4>International Students<\/h4>\n<p>As a state-supported institution; St. Mary\u2019s College of Maryland has extremely limited resources for institutional financial assistance. International applicants may be eligible for a merit scholarship \u2013 these decisions are made by the Office of Admissions. No supplemental form is required for scholarship consideration.<\/p>\n<h4>Undocumented Maryland Students<\/h4>\n<p>Undocumented Maryland residents are encouraged to apply for the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.smcm.edu\/osfa\/undocumented-maryland-students\/\">MSFAA<\/a> through Maryland Higher Education Commission (MHEC).<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<h3>How to Apply<\/h3>\n<div>\n<p><strong>St. Mary&#8217;s College of Maryland FAFSA (Title IV) Code: 002095<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Create an <a href=\"https:\/\/studentaid.gov\/fsa-id\/sign-in\/landing\">FSA ID<\/a><\/li>\n<li>Complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid <a href=\"https:\/\/studentaid.gov\/h\/apply-for-aid\/fafsa\">(FAFSA)<\/a>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Video not supported.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<h3>Important Dates &amp; Deadlines<\/h3>\n<div>\n<p>Submit the FAFSA as early as possible. SMCM does not have an institutional deadline, but you are responsible for making sure that your FAFSA is filed each year you wish to receive financial aid.
