The Psychology Research Fund<\/strong><\/h2><\/div><\/div>

The Psychology Research Fund was established by Professor Emeritus Roy Hopkins in the early 1990s to support student research efforts in psychology<\/a>, especially travel to present at conferences. Grants from this fund may support students\u2019 original research or involvement in directed research and typically do not exceed $200. There is a limited amount of money currently available in the fund.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div>

The Bucknam-Glidden Fund<\/strong><\/h2><\/div><\/div>

This fund formerly known as the \u201cStudents to Professional Conferences Fund\u201d was\u00a0originally established by Distinguished Professor Emerita Laraine Glidden to\u00a0support student travel to present psychology research at conferences<\/a>.\u00a0Elaine Bucknam, Class of 2016, received a $5,000<\/strong> grant from Psi Chi, the international honor society in psychology, to reimburse expenses associated with the conduct of her senior project. Unspent monies were contributed to the renamed Bucknam-Glidden Current Fund. Grants from this fund support students\u2019 original research only and\u00a0do not exceed $200<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>

How to Apply<\/strong> for Research Funds<\/h2><\/div><\/div>

Current psychology students at St. Mary\u2019s College of Maryland wishing to apply for support should complete the Department of Psychology Research Funding Application form and submit it to the academic program coordinator, Angela Draheim.<\/a><\/p>\n

For support to attend conferences, things you can include are registration fees, lodging, transportation (plane\/bus tickets, parking\/taxi fees, fuel cost<\/strong>*), and meals per diem (based on the current rates<\/a>). Note: We can cover per diem only if meals not already covered from another reimbursement source.<\/p>\n

* If you are certified to drive a state vehicle, you may be able to use a state car and thus not incur gas costs. If\/when you travel via personal vehicle, estimate cost based on how many miles you expect to travel roundtrip at the current reimbursement rate<\/a><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>
