always walk in a group or with a friend.\u00a0 If a person does not have someone with whom to walk, contact the Office of Public Safety (<a href=\"tel:2408954911\">240-895-4911<\/a>) for an escort.\u00a0 Escorts are provided from dusk until dawn.<\/li>\n<li>Choose well-lighted paths and avoid shortcuts. If an area light is out, please report it to the Physical Plant (240-895-4287) or Public Safety (240-895-4911).<\/li>\n<li>Be Aware! If a person believe he\/she is being followed, the person should occasionally look behind him\/her and if possible, immediately use the 911 Shield mobile app,\u00a0 head for the nearest emergency blue light phone, lighted building, or group of people. Keep the sales receipt.<\/li>\n<li>Register bikes with the Office of Public Safety at (240) 895-4911.<\/li>\n<li>Always lock bikes with a high quality lock. U-Locks are recommended nationally.<\/li>\n<li>Lights, bags and cycling computers are easy to steal, so consider removing them when not in use.<\/li>\n<li>Ride smart and safely. Put bags and boxes in the trunk and use a stereo with a removable faceplate. Don\u2019t ever leave a cell phone out!<\/li>\n<li>If a Parking Decal is stolen, report the theft to Public Safety at (240) 895-4911.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><div id=\"pg-101-6\"  class=\"panel-grid panel-has-style\" ><div id=\"property-safety\" class=\"panel-row-style panel-row-style-for-101-6\" ><div id=\"pgc-101-6-0\"  class=\"panel-grid-cell\" ><div id=\"panel-101-6-0-0\" class=\"so-panel widget widget_smcm-title panel-first-child\" data-index=\"10\" ><div\n\t\t\t\n\t\t\tclass=\"so-widget-smcm-title so-widget-smcm-title-base\"\n\t\t\t\n\t\t><h2 class=\"smcm-section-title navy\" style=\"\"><strong>Property<\/strong> Safety<\/h2><\/div><\/div><div id=\"panel-101-6-0-1\" class=\"so-panel widget widget_sow-editor panel-last-child\" data-index=\"11\" ><div\n\t\t\t\n\t\t\tclass=\"so-widget-sow-editor so-widget-sow-editor-base\"\n\t\t\t\n\t\t>\n<div class=\"siteorigin-widget-tinymce textwidget\">\n\t<ul>\n<li>Utilize the Office of Public Safety property registration program to register and record valuable property.\u00a0 Public Safety will mark property by engraving it with the owner\u2019s driver\u2019s license number and recording the serial number so it can be identified.\u00a0 If marked property is stolen, and recovered the description and identifying number can be used to return the property to the owner.<\/li>\n<li>When in the library, campus center, or academic buildings, do not leave any property unattended, even for a minute.<\/li>\n<li>In the locker room, always lock individual lockers. These escorts may be given in a Public Safety vehicle or on foot by a uniformed Public Safety Officer.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><div id=\"pg-101-11\"  class=\"panel-grid panel-has-style\" ><div id=\"property-registration\" class=\"panel-row-style panel-row-style-for-101-11\" ><div id=\"pgc-101-11-0\"  class=\"panel-grid-cell\" ><div id=\"panel-101-11-0-0\" class=\"so-panel widget widget_smcm-title panel-first-child\" data-index=\"20\" ><div\n\t\t\t\n\t\t\tclass=\"so-widget-smcm-title so-widget-smcm-title-base\"\n\t\t\t\n\t\t><h2 class=\"smcm-section-title navy\" style=\"\"><strong>Property<\/strong> Registration Program<\/h2><\/div><\/div><div id=\"panel-101-11-0-1\" class=\"so-panel widget widget_sow-editor panel-last-child\" data-index=\"21\" ><div\n\t\t\t\n\t\t\tclass=\"so-widget-sow-editor so-widget-sow-editor-base\"\n\t\t\t\n\t\t>\n<div class=\"siteorigin-widget-tinymce textwidget\">\n\t<p>Any member of the College community who has items of value on campus, including but not limited to laptops, bicycles, etc. can bring the item to the Office of Public Safety and have the item(s) registered.\u00a0 The Office of Public Safety will engrave the owner\u2019s driver\u2019s license number onto the item and keep a record of the item(s).\u00a0 The property registration program will not help prevent theft of an item but will assist Public Safety or local law enforcement in identifying the owner if it is recovered.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><div id=\"pg-101-12\"  class=\"panel-grid panel-has-style\" ><div id=\"rad\" class=\"panel-row-style panel-row-style-for-101-12\" ><div id=\"pgc-101-12-0\"  class=\"panel-grid-cell\" ><div id=\"panel-101-12-0-0\" class=\"so-panel widget widget_smcm-title panel-first-child\" data-index=\"22\" ><div\n\t\t\t\n\t\t\tclass=\"so-widget-smcm-title so-widget-smcm-title-base\"\n\t\t\t\n\t\t><h2 class=\"smcm-section-title navy\" style=\"\">Rape Aggression Defense Training <strong>Program<\/strong><\/h2><\/div><\/div><div id=\"panel-101-12-0-1\" class=\"so-panel widget widget_sow-editor panel-last-child\" data-index=\"23\" ><div\n\t\t\t\n\t\t\tclass=\"so-widget-sow-editor so-widget-sow-editor-base\"\n\t\t\t\n\t\t>\n<div class=\"siteorigin-widget-tinymce textwidget\">\n\t<p>The Office of Public Safety is currently offering Rape Aggression Defense or RAD training programs for the campus community.\u00a0 Information on this program is available via a link of the Public Safety home page.<\/p>\n<p>In addition to community education and programs, the Office of Public Safety seeks proactive solutions to crime and safety threats.<\/p>\n<p>Public Safety Officers work closely with Residence Life Staff who receives training regarding confrontation, assertiveness, College rules and regulations, and the Code of Student Conduct.<\/p>\n<p>Programs for students are offered periodically regarding such issues as personal safety, rape and sexual assault, and protection of personal property.
