Incident Management and Investigations: The St. Mary's College of Maryland Department of Public Safety is the primary agency for handling and investigating most on-campus crimes and incidents, pursuant to the memorandum of understanding with the St. Mary's County Sheriff's Office.

Emergency Management: The St. Mary's College of Maryland Department of Public Safety is the first agency to respond to any on campus emergencies, and its officers are trained to respond to a multitude of possible emergency situations, requesting assistance from several other emergency response agencies as needed.
