NSF Plans Briefing on Policy Changes
Jean Feldman, head of the National Science Foundation (NSF) Policy Office, is encouraging all GRC members to register for an October 29, 2015 webinar to review pending changes to the Proposal Award Policies and Procedures Guide (PAPPG). Attendees of GRC’s August meeting heard Feldman discuss the revisions, which will take effect January 25, 2016.

Administration Initiative to Advance Urban Design and Data
The Obama Administration recently released a multi-agency initiative to build urban infrastructure that improves the collection, aggregation, and use of data by harnessing low-cost sensors, and research collaboration. The “Smart Cities” initiative is investing $160 million in federal research, spread between six different agencies, to enhance research into safety, energy, climate preparedness, transportation, health, and technological infrastructure.
