Please read it carefully as you are accountable for adhering to this information. All summer residents must abide by standard College policies as noted on the Housing Contract, and in the College Catalog, Student Handbook, and the SMCM website.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Office of Residence Life manages one residential area during the summer (dates listed above) for use by SMCM students who are enrolled in SMCM summer school classes,\u00a0 SURF, and\/or working on- or off-campus. Students employed on- or off-campus must work at least 25 hours per week for each week that they are residing on-campus.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Eligibility:<br \/>\nHousing is limited on campus for the summer; priority housing will be provided to students who complete their contract on-time (and provide the correct verification of their summer term) and are enrolled in in-person coursework or working in an on-campus job, or are in an off-campus for-credit internship.<br \/>\nStudents who are working off-campus and not as part of an internship will receive housing if space is available.<br \/>\nStudents who will graduate in May are <em>not<\/em> eligible for student housing over the summer.<br \/>\nStudents who are not registered for the upcoming Fall courses are not eligible for student housing over the summer.<br \/>\nNew students for Fall are not eligible for student housing over the summer.<br \/>\nStudents participating in REU or Field School programs should contact their program director &#8211; Housing for these groups are assigned by our Conference and Events staff.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Applications will be available April 6 through April 27 &#8211; <\/strong><a href=\"https:\/\/forms.gle\/z2P68AddyjQoXGNq5\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Summer Housing Contract <\/span><\/a><\/p>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>Check-In and Check-Out Information:<\/strong><\/h3>\n<table>\n<tbody>\n<tr>\n<td><span style=\"font-family: inherit; font-size: inherit;\">Students staying on campus on for the first 3-week, 6-week<br \/>\nor the full summer session will stay in their Spring unit<br \/>\nuntil the<strong> May 20th<\/strong><\/span><\/td>\n<td><b><i>One-week summer school session:<\/i><\/b><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: inherit; font-size: inherit;\">Students will stay in their Spring placement.<\/span><\/li>\n<li>Check-out: Saturday, May \u00a023 by 12 noon.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td><b><i>First three-week summer school session:<br \/>\nClasses May 18 &#8211; June 4<\/i><\/b><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Check-in: Wednesday, May 20 9am \u2013 4 p.m.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Check-out: Friday, June 5 by 9 p.m.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b><i>Second three-week summer school session:<br \/>\nClasses June 8 &#8211; June 25<\/i><\/b><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Check-in: Sunday, June 7 &#8211; noon \u2013 2 p.m.<\/li>\n<li>Check-out: Friday, June 26 by 9 p.m.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b><i>Full six-week summer school session:<br \/>\nClasses May 18 &#8211; June 25<\/i><\/b><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Check-in: Wednesday, May 20 9am \u2013 4 p.m.<\/li>\n<li>Check-out: Friday, June 26 by 2 p.m.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b><i>Full summer (on- or off-campus employment):<\/i><\/b><i><br \/>\nStudents working for the summer who stay over 6 weeks<br \/>\nare <\/i><i>considered in the full summer employment term<\/i><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Check-in: Sunday, May 24 &#8211; noon \u2013 2 p.m.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Check-out: Friday, July 31 by 9 p.m. Or within 24 hours of your final work day.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>All summer residents must vacate their assigned room <b><span class=\"highlight\">on the day of the end of their contract.<\/span><\/b> Due to the space available, we are unable to accommodate any housing between the end of the summer term and the beginning of the fall term. The only exception will be for students that are documented as homeless, as approved on an individual basis by the Office of Residence Life.<\/strong><\/p>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>Facilities &amp; Services:<\/strong><\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Available Rooms: \u00a0<\/span>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">A Traditional Hall will be used to house SMCM students during the summer. \u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Students will be assigned to double occupancy bedrooms with communal access to bathrooms, laundry, and a kitchen. As space allows, a limited number of single occupancy bedrooms will be available only for students with active ADA accommodations.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Roommate requests will be honored as long as both students note the request in their housing application and as long as roommate\u2019s summer terms line up.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Residence Life Staff: \u00a0<\/span>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Residence Life staff will be available on-call \u00a0throughout the week. A staff member will be on duty in the RA office on Wednesday night and Saturday night from 8pm to midnight.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Programming:<\/span>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Residence Life staff will provide occasional programs for the summer residents (i.e., cookouts, tournaments, river center events, etc.).<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Free, weekly River Concerts are scheduled on the Townhouse Green every Friday night starting in mid-June through the end of July. \u00a0Food and beverages are available for a fee.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Wellness:<\/span>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Counseling is available during the summer by appointment.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Our contract providers (physicians, nurse practitioners and, psychiatrist) do not visit campus from mid-May until after classes begin in the fall. Nursing staff <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">will not be available for triage in the summer. Referrals to local Urgent Care Centers will be provided.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Campus Center Mailbox:<\/span>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Each resident living on campus during the summer will be able to continue to use their Campus Center mailbox during their assigned housing period.\u00a0 \u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">All student mail is returned to sender if delivered after the end of your assigned housing period.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li>Package pick-up will be at designated times throughout the week.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Additional Facilities:\u00a0<\/span>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Athletics and Recreation: Residents will be permitted to use the facilities during the published hours of operations.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Waterfront: Students in good standing, who have completed the campus swim test are welcome to use the Waterfront facilities (including kayaks, paddle boards, etc. during the posted hours of operations<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Library: Students will be able to use the library services during the published hours of operation.<\/span><\/li>\n<li>Laundry: Summer residents will be able to use the Laundry Room in the building that they are assigned<\/li>\n<li>Food Services: The Grind and the Great Room will be available during limited hours (hours of operation will be posted on the Bon Appetit website). The Solomon\u2019s Shoppe food pantry will also be open for limited hours.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>Summer Meal Plans:<\/strong><\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Meal plans are optional but recommended for all summer residents. All units have access to a communal kitchen.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none;\"><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Residents should plan to provide their own kitchen equipment (pots, pans, utensils, plates, bowls, cups, etc.).<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none;\"><\/li>\n<li><b>Hours of Operation\u00a0<\/b>(please use this information to choose your meal plan)\n<ul>\n<li>Hours of operation are subject to change; please consult Bon Appetit&#8217;s website for hours and closures.<\/li>\n<li>The Great room will be closed on holidays<\/li>\n<li>The Great Room will be closed on most weekends.<span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li>Solomon&#8217;s Kitchen and Brew&#8217;d Awakening will be closed for the summer.<\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cAnytime Dining\u201d will not be available. The Great Room will be open at designated times and the meal schedule will be posted each week.<\/span><\/li>\n<li>The Great Room will be closed for the last two weeks of the summer term.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>Housing and Meal Plan Fees:<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The housing fee structure is a tiered pricing structure. \u00a0SMCM students who are working off-campus will pay the highest rate for the convenience of living on-campus instead of off-campus. Students enrolled in SMCM summer school classes will pay a lower rate because they are working toward academic credit. Students working on-campus will pay the lowest housing rate because they are providing needed services that benefit the College, often at minimum wage.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">If a student will be here for more than one reason (e.g. summer school and employment), the student will be charged the housing fee associated with the longer length of time they will be on campus. For example, if the student is enrolled in an SMCM six-week summer school course and working on-campus at least 25 hours\/week\u00a0<span class=\"highlight\">for the full summer<\/span>, then the student will be charged the on-campus employment fee. The hours of the Great Room will vary during the summer and will have decreased hours of operation between mid-May and mid-June. The Great Room will close completely on August 2 and will reopen for the Fall Semester later in the month. <strong>Second meal plans cannot be added to a students&#8217; account.<\/strong><\/span><\/i><\/span><\/h3>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>Housing Contract:<\/strong><\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Each resident must sign a housing contract, which will be available online.\u00a0 If you have any questions please contact Monica Armstrong at the Office of Residence Life\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><b>To request housing, the housing contract must be submitted by April 27.<\/b>\n<ul>\n<li>Summer employment and course registration will need to be verified &#8211; if the Office of Residence Life is unable to verify your employment or course registration on\/by April 27, your housing application\/contract will be considered incomplete and you will be added to a waitlist.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Housing will be assigned on a first-come, first-served basis until all beds are full (which may happen before applications are due). Housing assignments will be sent out on May 4.\u00a0<\/span>\n<ul>\n<li>Incomplete housing applications\/contracts (due to lack of verification), will be considered late.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Requests to be released from the housing contract must be submitted in writing at least 7 days before the check in date; otherwise, a late housing contract release fee will be assessed. Students who notify Residence Life after their assigned move in date, that they will not be living on campus will be financially liable for the full amount of the summer\u2019s housing fee to which they were assigned.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>On-Campus Employers:<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">If you will be paying for the room and\/or board costs for your summer student employee(s), please make payment arrangements directly with the Business Office.
