St. Mary’s College of Maryland establishes the following policy regarding smoking, including the use of e-cigarettes and vape pens, and use of tobacco products. The\u00a0Governor\u2019s Executive Order (01.01.1992.20) establishes guidelines upon which the St. Mary’s policy is based.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Policy<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

    \n
  1. Buildings and Vehicles\u00a0<\/span>\n
      \n
    1. Smoking or carrying any lighted tobacco product is prohibited in all state buildings and facilities.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n
    2. Smoking is prohibited in all state vehicles.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n
    3. Smoking is prohibited in all areas of all residential facilities, including (but not limited to), Residence Halls, Suites, Apartments, and Townhouses.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

      Enforcement<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

      1. Responsibility\u00a0<\/span>\n
          \n
        1. All employees and students share in the responsibility for adhering to and enforcing this policy\u00a0and have the responsibility for bringing it to the attention of visitors.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n
        2. Conflict resolution\u00a0<\/span>\n
            \n
          1. The Office of Human Resources is responsible for resolving conflicts and investigating claims of\u00a0employees. The student conduct officer is responsible for resolving conflicts and investigating\u00a0claims of students.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n
          2. Disciplinary procedures\u00a0<\/span>\n
              \n
            1. For an employee found in noncompliance, the following shall result:\u00a0<\/span>\n
                \n
              1. For the first offense: be directed to Human Resources for counseling on the\u00a0provisions of the Executive Order (verbal warning).\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n
              2. For the second offense: be given a written reprimand.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n
              3. For a third offense: receive a suspension.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n
              4. For a fourth or subsequent offense: may result in termination of employment.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n
              5. For a student found in noncompliance, an incident report may be forwarded to the\u00a0student conduct officer for adjudication.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
