Due to the fact that the Writing & Speaking Center is operating online for Fall 2020, we are temporarily unable to offer Class Visits. We are, however, happy to provide instructors with materials they can share with students to help introduce their students to the Center’s services. For more information or to request materials, please contact Assistant Director Mandy Taylor at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Professors can request to have peer tutors visit classes in order to talk about the Writing & Speaking Center with students. These visits are relatively brief (about 15 minutes) and give an overview of the tutoring process and the services the Center provides.
Purpose of Class Visits
Tutors extend their work outside the Writing & Speaking Center walls through workshops, presentations and class visits. These class visits may be our most important work in terms of promoting the Center and making students feel knowledgeable and comfortable with our services.
How a Visit Works
A class visit simply consists of one or two tutors coming to a class to discuss The Writing & Speaking Center, providing students with details about our mission and methods as well as an informal introduction to the tutors themselves. Tutors will arrive either at the beginning of class, or any time designated by the instructor. Class visits take no longer than 15 minutes.
How to Schedule a Visit
