Checklist: Theater Studies Major

Cloud NineStudents should use this checklist as a recommended framework for completing the requirements of the theater studies major

1. By Spring Semester of Sophomore Year

A. Completed:

1. At least 20 semester-hours of coursework in the department; includes the following courses:

2. Participation on at least one major production

B. Obtained an adviser in TFMS (unless a double major, and an adviser has been selected from another field of study)

C. Declared a theater studies major in TFMS

2. By Spring Semester of Junior Year

A. Completed:

1. At least 15 semester-hours (or more) of course work in theater studies; includes the following areas:

2. Participation on at least one run crew for a major production

3. Participation on at least one major production

B. Optional: Submission of St. Mary's Project proposal, if planning to begin work in the coming fall semester

3. By Fall Semester of Senior Year

A. If planning to attend graduate school after graduation from St. Mary's:

1. Begin writing/submitting applications to graduate schools of choice (M.F.A. applicants should schedule auditions)

2. Register for GRE (Graduate Record Examination), if necessary

B. Optional: St. Mary's Project (TFMS 493/494) (must be completed by spring semester)

4. By Spring Semester of Senior Year

A. Completed:

1. Additional semester-hours to satisfy requirements for graduation as a TFMS theater studies major (16 semester-hours, or fewer), including:

2. Participation on at least one major production

B. Satisfied all requirements for graduation from St. Mary's

5. Fall Semester of Each Year

TFMS Open House (mandatory for declared TFMS majors)

6. Spring Semester of Each Year

TFMS Night (optional)
