2023 Shoreside Schedule of Events
Celebrate the 50th anniversary of the oldest and longest-running overnight sailboat race on the Chesapeake Bay, which starts in Maryland’s current capital, Annapolis, and ends in Maryland’s first capital, St. Mary’s City.
Race founders Russell Baker ’75, Pete Sarelas ’75, and Dale Rausch ’71 will all be in attendance at the shoreside celebration on August 5 – with Russell planning to participate in the race as well.
This year’s finish celebration at the College’s Waterfront promises to be a memorable one, with four bands playing throughout the day, an eclectic mix of the area’s favorite food trucks and cash bar, a photo booth, shower facilities for sailors and overnight accommodations for sailors and guests and even a Music for Maryland performance by the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra. All of the festivities are open to the public, not just racers, and the music is free (the BSO concert is a “Pay What You Wish” event in the college’s newly-christened Nancy R. & Norton T. Dodge Performing Arts Center).
