What kind of field can I work in with a degree in Environmental Studies?
Our graduates work in natural resource protection, conservation, and management as rangers, scientists, naturalists, and educators. SMCM’s ENST degree has enabled students to work as economic analysts for the World Bank and the Brookings Institute; associates and officers for regional, national, and international non-profits and private foundations; employees of state, regional, or federal natural resource agencies; or to launch their own design studios as artists and independent business owners. Our alumni ranks include firefighters and food security activists; legislative writers and world traveling researchers; sustainability professionals and graduate and professional students in J.D., Master’s, and Ph.D. programs as diverse as environmental law, wildlife biology, environmental policy, creative writing, and environmental neurotoxicology. Employment rates for environmental specialists is projected to grow faster than the average for all occupations through 2026.
