Alumni Where are they now?
Jacob Lewis (art history, 2002) is currently living in Paris while conducting dissertation research for his PhD (art history) from Northwestern University. Jacob was awarded a nationally-competitive Samuel H. Kress Foundation Travel Fellowship to support his research.

ARTWEEK - Fall 2009
The Art and Art History Department is pleased to present ARTWEEK — October 26-29, 2009!
ARTWEEK emerges from departmental efforts to diversify our programmatic offerings, find collaborative opportunities for faculty and students alike, and offer a wide range of art-related events to the campus community. ARTWEEK kicks off with a campus-wide creativity workshop with visiting artist Mary Stuart, includes open studio and curatorial lab events, and culminates with the interdisciplinary extravaganza — Faculty Throwdown!

Artist Talk: Angelia Lane

In conjunction with alumni exhibition, Art Through the Ages. A reception will follow the lecture.
Angelia Lane is an emerging artist working in New York City and is the Artist House artist-in-residence for the month of September. An alumnus of St. Mary's College of Maryland, class of 2005, she now resides in Brooklyn. In addition to her artistic endeavors, Angelia has spent the past 3 years working as a Marketing Representative for photo industry giant, B&H Photo. Her career in marketing has provided multiple opportunities for international and domestic travel, from which Angelia draws her artistic inspiration. Her repertoire not only includes painting, drawing and printmaking, but also photography.

Interactive Lecture on Creativity by Mary Stewart

Mary Stewart is the Artist House artist-in-residence October 9- November 30. Author, artist, and educator Mary Stewart is the Foundations Program Director for the Art Department at Florida State University. Majoring in printmaking, she received a BFA from University of New Mexico in 1975 and an MFA from Indiana University in 1980. Upon graduation, she began an extensive teaching career, including professorships at Dickinson College, Syracuse University and Northern Illinois University before accepting her current position at Florida State. Her work has been shown in over eighty exhibitions nationally and internationally, including shows at the Everson Museum in New York and the University of Richmond in Virginia, and she has received two Pennsylvania Council on the Arts grants for collaborative choreography. Launching the Imagination: A Comprehensive Guide to Basic Design, is her most ambitious book to date. Adopted by over 400 colleges and universities nationally and internationally, this textbook offers to freshman a lively introduction to Two-Dimensional Design, Three-Dimensional Design, Time Design, and Creativity.
