Artist Talk: Amparo Caravajal-Hufschmid, printmaker
Amparo Caravajal-Hufschmid is
a printmaker who’s artistic practice embraces chance and variety. She creates
work that emphasizes craft and individuality. She was born
in Colombia and studied at the Universidad Javeriana in Bogota. She
also attended SUNY Purchase and studied with Antonio Frascon (85-87)
and the School of the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston ( 99-00). Recent
exhibitions of her work include: (2005-06) Museo de Arte
Moderno - Bucaramanga, Colombia, Dartmouth
College - Hopkins Center,NH., Brandeis
University - Dritzer Gallery, Reeves Contemporary -
NYC, Saint-Gaudens National Historic Site -
Cornish, Koussevitzky Art Gallery - MA, Washington
Art Association - Washington Depot,,CT., The
Hood Museum of Art, NH. She is currently a visiting
lecturer in Studio art at Dartmouth College. |

Artist Talk: Eric Hufschmid, photographer
Eric Hufschmid is
self taught in photography while attending the U. of Salamanca,
Spain (1972). He returned to NY to study architecture at Pratt
Institute in 1977. He has
been working with the platinum process for the past twelve years
and has recently begun to explore papermaking in combination with
traditional printmaking as well as digital imagery. His recent exhibitions
include Museo de Arte Moderno in Bucaramanga, Colombia, Kossevitzky
Gallery in Pittsfield, MA, Brandeis University, Dritzer Gallery in
Waltham, MA, and St, Gaudens National Historic Site in Cornish, NH

George Ciscle,
Curator-in-Residence at the Maryland Institute College of Art.
He is the founder of the
George Ciscle Gallery (1985) in Baltimore, dedicated to promoting
the work of young and emerging artists, as well as the founder
and director of the Contemporary (1989-1996), a museum
known as the “un-museum” for its ways of connecting
artists’ work with peoples everyday lives
