Majoring in Studio Art
The program in studio art is designed to help students formulate and develop a personal vision. In order to accomplish this goal, courses focus on skills that allow students to express themselves successfully through visual, verbal, and written means. Upon declaring the studio art major, students designate an area of concentration for advanced-level work. This may be in drawing, painting, sculpture, photography, digital art, or a combination of any of these media. For the studio art major, senior year is devoted to the St. Mary's Project in studio art, which includes written and oral presentations of the student's research and artistic development, and culminates in an exhibition of a body of work in the Boyden Gallery.
