The mission of St. Mary's College of Maryland Counseling Services is to provide a professional and confidential setting for the psychological, emotional, and developmental support of students as they pursue academic goals and explore personal growth, and act as a resource for faculty and staff to assist with their interactions with students. When this mission is fulfilled, the quality of students' experience at St. Mary's is enhanced, and they are more likely to achieve academic and personal success.
The Counseling service creates a safe, confidential, non-judgmental atmosphere for students to receive support, mentoring and guidance though flexible, need-based, counseling services. Services provided by the Counseling staff assist students through the developmental, academic and psychological challenges and opportunities they may face during their formative college years. The Counseling Center promotes mental health and wellness through programming, training and consultation to members of the SMCM community.
