Welcome to the St. Mary's College of Maryland Department of Public Safety Website

Message From the Director
I am proud to serve as your Public Safety Director. I retired from the St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office after serving for 25 years, the last 4 years as the Sheriff of St. Mary’s County. After my law enforcement career, I served the citizens of St. Mary’s County as the Director of the St. Mary’s County Department of Public Safety for 4 years, where I was responsible for the 911 Center, Emergency Management, Animal Control and a liaison with the volunteer Fire Departments, Rescue Squads and Advance Life Support.
On behalf of the members of the St. Mary’s College of Maryland Department of Public Safety, I want to welcome you to our web site. We encourage you to browse the various pages of information we have made available. You will find information about our organization including descriptions of our services, our mission, and our values. We have provided extensive information about security policies and procedures on the St. Mary’s College of Maryland campus, crime data, and crime prevention information. You will also find some College policies, rules, and regulations related to our areas of responsibility.
We are proud to be a part of St. Mary’s College and its tradition of excellence. It is our goal to provide the highest quality of public safety services to the College community. St. Mary’s College of Maryland and its surrounding communities continue to be one of the nation’s safest communities. The men and women of the College Public Safety Department are committed to making the St. Mary’s College of Maryland campus a safe place to live, work, and study. We are committed to the concept of community policing and work diligently to develop and maintain partnerships for improving the quality of life for our campus community. However, we recognize that we can accomplish our mission only with the support and trust of the College community and through partnering with the community to carry out our programs. We look forward to serving you.
