Sociology is the study of culture, social structure, processes, interaction, and social change. As a Sociology student, you’ll study how gender, race, and ethnicity are involved in social and economic inequality, and how that plays into other social issues.
Sociology covers broad course topics such as society’s origins, how it has developed over time, and the organizations and institutions that play a part in its evolution. The science uses techniques, such as methods of empirical investigation and critical analysis, to uncover and examine human society.
Research in the sociological field seeks to better areas of social policy and welfare, while other researchers seek to gain only a theoretical understanding of the subject.
