Associate professor in the Department of Zoology at the University of Maryland and former Lilly Fellow, Dr. Margaret Palmer is currently serving as program director of ecology in the Division of Environmental Biology at the National Science Foundation, Washington, D.C. Dr. Palmer's study of marine and stream (benthic) invertebrate ecologies has characterized much of her research. Recently, she has broadened her interests through her association with NSF to address issues of curricular reform related to gender and science.
In "Scientific Culture and Scientific Knowledge: A Gendered Perspective?", Dr. Palmer will outline her national project on curriculum reform and address the current role of women scientists in the United States.
