Barrett Emerick presented at the UK-SWIP (Society for Women in Philosophy) conference, "Feminist Epistemology and Philosophical Traditions," in November. The title of his paper was "A Defense of Doxastic and Affective Voluntarism."

Kathryn Ward

Professor of Sociology and Women Studies at Southern Illinois University, Kathyrn Ward is best known for her anthology, Women Workers and Global Restructuring (1990), and monograph, Women in the World System: Its Impact on Status and Fertility (1984) and is an active participant in the Nari Jibon Project, a group striving to empower women workers in Bangladesh.
In "Women Workers' Coping and Survival Strategies for Global Restructuring", Ward will discuss women workers in developing countries and their survival strategies under globalization. Ward is particularly interested in women's low-wage, high-risk jobs such as sex work, domestic work, and export production that directly support the economies of developed countries.
