Jennifer Tickle, Assistant Professor of Psychology at St. Mary's College of Maryland, is a social psychologist interested in how popular media shape viewers' perceptions, attitudes, and behavior. Her research on the influence of film portrayals of health behaviors on adolescent attitudes and behavior has been published in journals such as Basic and Applied Social Psychology, Tobacco Control, The Lancet, and British Medical Journal.

In "From Runaway Brides to Rose Ceremonies: A Discussion of Media Portrayals of Marriage" Tickle will present images of marriage from American popular media as a starting point for an open discussion of how marriage is portrayed in the media and the possible influences of these portrayals on viewers.
