WGSX 200 Introduction to Women Studies |
|
|
As stated in the 2007-2008 college catalog: This team-taught interdisciplinary course introduces students to perspectives on a variety of issues related to women, gender, and sexuality: biological and psychological perspectives on gender and health; representation of gender in the arts and sciences; the heterogeneity of gendered experience and the effects of power and oppression; issues of identity surrounding race, class, ethnicity, and sexuality; and various forms of violence against women, as well as those related to sexuality. Readings, presentations, and discussions will acquaint students with the scholarly analysis of gender and gender relations, promote an understanding of the social construction of gender in society, and help students become aware of the impact of gender in their own lives and in society. A group of 10-15 faculty participate in the teaching of this course. Click here to download the full syllabus for Spring 2007 (pdf format, 130KB) |
