Held annually the second weekend in June, Alumni Weekend is the largest alumni celebration of the year. Every summer, over 1,000 alumni return to their home on the river to reunite with old friends, learn about new College developments, and rediscover the beauty of the St. Mary’s campus. Though all alumni and their families are welcome to attend, those celebrating an anniversary year are especially encouraged to return to celebrate their milestone.
This event is a time to come together as a community to celebrate our dear friend, teacher, mentor, and colleague Kate Chandler and to honor her legacy to St. Mary’s College by dedicating the Campus Farm in her name. Many years ago, Kate was instrumental in founding the Farm with a group of St. Mary’s students, and so it seems fitting that the Farm should carry her name into the future.
While there will be a simple program to begin our gathering, we will mostly spend our time sharing our recollections of Kate, breaking bread together, and comforting each other with hugs, talk, tears, laughter, and song—as Kate herself might have done.
At the Celebration, there will be Memory Books for writing notes, drawing pictures, or quoting poems to be given to Kate’s family. There will also be baskets available for dropping off cards and letters, if you wish. Kate’s surviving family members are her three siblings: Sue, John, and Kim Reynolds as well as her sisters-in-law, Kathleen Foster and Laurice Chow.
Please bring a dish that would be easy to share with others. Drinks, plates, napkins, and silverware will be supplied.
Once you arrive, following the parking signs that will be posted along Route 5.
All are welcome.

In order to exemplify the principles and lessons learned through the St. Mary’s Way as students, alumni are gathering together to give back to their local communities for the College’s second annual Bay to Bay Service Days. This year, we are excited to announce eleven service projects for St. Mary’s alumni across the country!
For those who live outside of the project regions, we encourage you to put on your favorite St. Mary’s apparel and reach out to a neighbor in need, volunteer for a service organization, or host your own project to better your local community. Share your service story with us at email@example.com and make sure to tag your project photos on social media with #smcmbaytobay and #smcmalumni.
Spring Break-a-Sweat is the time of year for our fall and winter sports alumni to dust off their old gear, grab a water bottle, and return to St. Mary’s to relive those glory days. All alumni are invited to attend, but our alumni athletes from soccer, basketball, field hockey, and volleyball are especially encouraged to return for their reunion games. Even if you don’t plan on participating, we hope you will come to support those who do!
Following the reunion games, a hospitality tent is open next to Seahawk Stadium for you to gather with old friends and cheer on the women’s lacrosse team as they take on a conference rival. Food and beverages from local vendors are available for purchase throughout the afternoon.
