Student Advocate for Global Engagement (SAGE) Program
N E W!
The Student Advocates for Global Engagement program (SAGE) cultivates the academic, personal, social, and leadership potential of students committed to linking global communities at St. Mary’s College of Maryland.
Through supporting students of diverse backgrounds in academic and multicultural activities and leadership opportunities, the program aims to develop a community of international scholars who will guide the College’s efforts to:
- deepen understandings of cultural perspectives;
- expand knowledge about the interconnections among local, international, and global communities;
- create a campus community climate that is inquisitive and dedicated to appreciating global diversity;
- build skills in self-reflection, personally and culturally; and
- promote global engagement and opportunities to serve local and global communities.

More than 300 of your classmates study each year throughout seven continents --
WHERE DO YOU WANT TO GO?
St. Mary's is committed to supporting you in developing knowledge, skills, and attitudes that deepen your global awareness and engagement. Study abroad is one way that you can satisfy Experiencing the Liberal Arts in the World of the Core Curriculum -- a requirement that fosters reflection and the opportunity to apply your ideas and knowledge outside the classroom.
St. Mary's SIGNATURE SEMESTERS ABROAD in England (Oxford), The Gambia (Kanifing), Italy (Alba), and Thailand (Chiang Mai) carry our honors college traditions abroad by offering academic courses with St. Mary's or hand-selected international faculty at our own or partner residential sites with orientation programs and excursions designed specifically for you. Since these are St. Mary's programs, courses and experiences can often be tailored to meet individual student needs.
You can make progress toward your Core Curriculum or major requirements all for the same cost as studying and living on campus.
We also offer EXCHANGE SEMESTERS ABROAD with partners in Argentina, Australia, China, Costa Rica, France, Germany, Hong Kong, India and Japan, as well as short, focused courses abroad -- STUDY TOURS -- taught by St. Mary's professors.
To help you get there, St. Mary's will pay for your airfare to any of its partner sites for semester study during Fall 2010.
There's a world of options...YOU DECIDE WHAT'S RIGHT FOR YOU.
DECIDE WHAT'S RIGHT FOR YOU!
