Leonard Brown Jr. joined St. Mary’s College of Maryland in June 2014. A native of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Brown earned a B.A. from Dickinson College in psychology. He received an M.S. in higher education administration from Western Illinois University and an M.A in theology from St. Mary’s Seminary and University Ecumenical Institute of Theology. He is currently pursuing a Doctor of Management at the University of Maryland University College. He is a member of NASPA (Student Affairs Administrators in Higher Education), ACPA (College Student Educators International), and ASCA (Association for Student Conduct Administration), among other professional organizations.
Brown has worked for more than 20 years on college and university campuses, developing strong mentoring relationships with a variety of students including first-generation students, underrepresented students, athletes, and student leaders. His areas of interest include experiential learning, student retention, diversity and inclusion, and leadership development.
