Several of the Educational Studies course offerings require the undergrads to go into the local public schools- to observe, to tutor, and to experience K-12 schooling from a new perspective.
The Educational Studies courses that require field placements are:
- EDUC 206- Education in America
- 10 required hours of placement
- Prerequisite course for EDUC 336 and EDUC/PSYC 368, beginning Fall 2017
- 10 required hours of placement
- EDUC 286- Language Acquisition and Reading Development for Secondary and K-12 Teachers
- 12 required hours of placement
- Can be taken for ELAW credit
- 12 required hours of placement
- EDUC 296- Language Acquisition and Phonemic Awareness
- 27-30 required hours of placement
- One-on-one tutoring with struggling readers in elementary school
- 27-30 required hours of placement
- EDUC 336- Exceptionality: Introduction to Special Education
- 12 required hours of placement
- Prerequisites needed: PSYCH 101 and EDUC 206
- Can be taken for ELAW credit
- 12 required hours of placement
- EDUC/PSYC 368- Educational Psychology
