Psi Chi, the International Honor Society in Psychology, was founded in 1929 to advance the science of psychology and promote academic excellence. While it began as a community for psychology students conducting research, it has since expanded to support scholarship, service, and professional development.
With over 1,150 chapters and more than 750,000 lifetime members, Psi Chi is one of the largest and most respected honor societies in the U.S. It is a member of the Association of College Honor Societies and an affiliate of the APA and APS.
Psi Chi publishes Eye on Psi Chi, a quarterly magazine highlighting member achievements, and the Psi Chi Journal of Psychological Research, which features peer-reviewed work by undergraduate, graduate, and faculty members.
The Society’s name reflects its mission: Psyche (mind) represents scholarship, and Cheires (hands) symbolizes fellowship and research.
