Each student will plan an individual program with an adviser in order to arrive at a combination of courses that will both meet the requirements for the major and be most meaningful for the student’s goals and interests.
The English faculty strongly recommend that you obtain an adviser from among the faculty in the your area of concentration by the beginning of your junior year.
The following model is suggested as a possible basic program to satisfy the above requirements:
- First Year:
ENGL 281, 282, and 283
- Second Year:
ENGL 204 and 304, and an upper-level elective
- Third Year:
A 400-level seminar, and two upper-level electives
- Fourth Year:
St. Mary’s Project (ENGL 493/494 or two 300- or 400- level English courses, as well as an upper-level elective.)
