How to Download and Share Your Accommodation Letter
To activate your accommodations, you must share your official accommodation letter with the instructor of each course you’d like to use your accommodations in. You can share your letter at any time during the semester, however, accommodations are not retroactive.
You can follow these visual instructions to show you how to share your accommodation letter or follow the written instructions below.
- Log into Accommodate.
- On the Accommodate home page, go to the left-hand side bar and select Accommodation and then Accommodation Letter from the dropdown menu.
- Select the most current letter for the desired semester named “Faculty/Adviser Letter of Accommodation for [semester and year]”
- When you open the letter, select the Generate PDF button at the top of the page.
- Email a letter to each professor for the classes you’d like to activate your accommodations in. Please cc our office in the email.
- Set up a time to meet with your instructors to discuss how your accommodations could look in their course.
How to Renew Your Accommodations (submitting a Semester Request)
Each semester, you will need to submit a semester request to renew your accommodations. You will do this for all the accommodations you intend to use for that semester, including any residential accommodations.
You can follow these visual instructions to show you how to renew your accommodations or follow the written instructions below.
- Log into Accommodate.
- Select the Accommodation tab on the left side of the page.
- Select Semester Request.
- There is a drop-down titled Semester - select the semester you’re looking to renew your accommodations for and then select Apply Search.
- Select Add New.
- Select the semester you’re looking for again.
- Select either Submit for All Accommodations or Review to select specific accommodations to renew for the next semester.
- Once you’ve done that, our office will generate your accommodation letter to share with your instructors.
How to Request New Accommodations
If you’re experiencing a new barrier or an existing barrier is not currently being addressed by your current accommodations and self-strategies alone, you can request additional, or supplemental, accommodations.
You can follow these visual instructions to show you how to request supplemental accommodations or follow the written instructions below.
- Log into Accommodate.
- Select the Accommodation tab on the left side of the page.
- Select the Supplemental tab.
- Select Add New.
- Fill out the Accessibility Accommodation Request form.
- Upload relevant documents supporting your supplemental request.
- Select Submit when you’re done.
- Once you submit your request, our office will reach out to schedule a meeting with you.
Student Authorization for Release of Information (SARI)
OAS information is not covered under FERPA. Instead, we have a separate release form called a Student Authorization Release of Information (SARI) that allows students to determine what information our office can disclose with designated individuals. This can be signed in our office with an OAS staff member present and can be rescinded at any time. A SARI or a FERPA does not allow anyone other than the student to make accommodation requests or speak on their behalf.
