The performing arts program with the musical theater concentration prepares students for diverse careers such as musical theatre, directing, choreography, and arts management. With an emphasis on interdisciplinary collaboration, students gain opportunities to tailor their education to their artistic interests across areas like music, theatre, dance, and arts administration. They develop key skills in performance, research, and communication while engaging in hands-on projects and leadership roles. Performing Arts Major - Musical Theater Concentration

Musical Theater at St. Mary’s College of Maryland helps students grow as performers by combining acting, singing, and movement. Students learn how musicals are made and why they matter, from history and culture to stage skills and teamwork. With small classes, personal guidance, and lots of chances to perform, students build confidence and find their own voice. Whether you love being on stage or working behind the scenes, this program helps you become a strong and creative artist.

Honors College Promise

As the National Public Honors College, St. Mary’s College of Maryland helps Musical Theater students grow through serious study, creative expression, and hands-on experience. The Musical Theater concentration reflects the Honors College Promise by offering close mentorship, chances to perform and create original work, and a mix of classes that link theater, music, and dance to history, culture, and new ideas.
